Este será un espacio abierto: todo tipo de arte será considerado. Se trata de un proyecto sin fines de lucro, cuyo objetivo es convertirse en una herramienta accesible que recoja y comparta la riqueza de nuestras múltiples experiencias dominicanas.

With the purpose of amplifying and centering the queer / cuir / trans experiences of the Dominican Republic, we have decided to create a Dominican art zine that celebrates the diversity of our identities.

This will be an open space: all types of art will be considered. It is a non-profit project, with the goal of becoming an accessible tool that gathers and shares the richness of our multiple Dominican experiences.

Esta máscara es del Diablo Cojuelo, personaje principal del carnaval dominicano. Su diseño varía según la región de la comparsa, al ser influenciado por elementos de la región, o, más específicamente, de la ciudad, pueblo o sector.

This illustration was created based on photos of one of the members of the troupe “Los Desandaraos” on the Tropical Carnival of Paris 2024. With this illustration, I wanted to begin exploring the visual language of the Dominican Carnival, and the elements that accompanied it.

The mask belongs to the Diablo Cojuelo (Devil Limping), main character of the Dominican Carnaval. Its design varies according to the region the troupe comes from, as it is heavily influenced by elements of the region or more specifically, the city, village or sector.

The illustration is going to be included in the 2025 edition of the exhibition Power in Numbers of Gallery Nucleus, United States. It’s going to be happening from the 28th June to the 6th July on @gallerynucleus . In going to put a link with more information on my Linktree.

Sooo, esta ilustración originalmente fue planeada el año pasado, pero cuando la terminé, no amé el resultado. Así que decidí que la reharía más tarde, y al principio de este año, la oportunidad se presentó. Estoy muy feliz con el resultado.

Quiero hacer prints, pero posiblemente me tomará algún momento. Si alguien esta interesade en tener prints antes de ello, me pueden hacer un DM.

Quería celebrar la “Semana de la Visibilidad Lésbica” con esta imagen. Irónicamente, actualmente tengo una relación muy diferente con mi identidad lésbica, en comparación al año pasado. Pero siento que sigue siendo muy apropiada para lo que quería expresar y como me siento, y amo el resultado bastante. Además, funciona para Pride. Así que, Feliz mes del Orgullo!!! Y espero que todo el mundo pueda tener su verano más maricón y trans posible ✨✨✨🌈

So, This illustration was originally conceived last year, but I didn’t the first result. I knew then that I wanted to redo it, but I find have the opportunity until the beginning of this year. I’m very happy with the result.

I wanted to celebrate the “Lesbian Week of Visibility” with this image. Como una promesa. 100 x 118 cm. Gouache, tinta acuarela y lápices de colores sobre papel, 2024-2025 / Like a promise, 100 x 118 cm. Gouache, watercolor ink and color pencils on paper, 2024-2025.

Esta pieza fue creada en el marco de la exposición “Flora Verba: Le Langage Secret des Fleurs” en la galería Artistik Rezo @floraverbaproject, que transcurrió del 14 al 16 de enero en Paris.

El tema principal de la exposición era la flor y las diferentes maneras en la que diferentes artistas exploran su imagen y significado. En mi caso, quise explorar las orquídeas y la auto imagen frente a los cambios que una discapacidad invisible que puede causar en la vida de alguien.

Las orquídeas son flores super interesantes por la dualidad que siento presentan, ya que estas requieren un cuidado intenso y muy detallado para que puedan florecer de la manera correcta; pero al mismo tiempo, estas cuentan con raíces muy firmes y resistentes, que permiten poder vigilar el estado en el que se encuentran y que necesitan.

Esto me sirvió para poder canalizar en una imagen, mis sentimientos sobre mi estado de salud en aquel momento, entendiendo lo que significaban todos estos cambios y la visión que quería mostrarme era posible para un nuevo futuro. También quise explorar, diferentes presentaciones de género, de una manera más visible esta vez, y presentar otro tipo de amor lésbico, t4t específicamente.

This piece was created in the exposition’s framework “Flora Verba: Le Langage Secret des Fleurs” in the gallery Artistik Rezo @floraverbaproject, that happened on the 14th to the 16th of January in Paris.

Esta pieza fue creada en el marco de la exposición “Flora Verba: Le Langage Secret des Fleurs” en la galería Artistik Rezo @floraverbaproject, que transcurrió del 14 al 16 de enero en Paris.

El tema principal de la exposición era la flor y las diferentes maneras en la que diferentes artistas exploran su imagen y significado. En mi caso, quise explorar las orquídeas y la auto imagen frente a los cambios que una discapacidad invisible que puede causar en la vida de alguien.

Las orquídeas son flores super interesantes por la dualidad que siento presentan, ya que estas requieren un cuidado intenso y muy detallado para que puedan florecer de la manera correcta; pero al mismo tiempo, estas cuentan con raíces muy firmes y resistentes, que permiten poder vigilar el estado en el que se encuentran y que necesitan.

Esto me sirvió para poder canalizar en una imagen, mis sentimientos sobre mi estado de salud en aquel momento, entendiendo lo que significaban todos estos cambios y la visión que quería mostrarme era posible para un nuevo futuro. También quise explorar, diferentes presentaciones de género, de una manera más visible esta vez, y presentar otro tipo de amor lésbico, t4t específicamente.

Despite doing the final piece in traditional, I like to integrate digital art into it. For illustrations and linocut a, I prepare the design in Procreate, print it and then transfer to the final format.

Feeling Safe in My Love. Gouache and Ink Watercolor,2023.

Last June I was with my partner in an activity of @laceibard in Santo Domingo, a space for people that had had some kind of relationship with being perceived as a woman in this society (queer women, non-binary people, and trans men included) to have discussions that affected us and be in community with one another.

For me, being in this place was the first place outside of Dominican society where I felt safe with my partner, just being and existing together. The Dominican Republic has a complicated history of queerness and transness. And it means a lot to be outside in the city and feel safe with my partner as a lesbian couple.

I wanted to illustrate the sensation of that night and show lesbian love and the beauty of it.

The characters are Ciguapa and a new one. ✨ I want to expand the story of Ciguapa and their identities.

Continuando con el tema de la cultura taína, aquí está uno de los trabajos que hice para el terminar este ultimo semestre de TC. Trata sobre una ilustración histórica.

Synopsis: Dans la culture des taínos, indigènes précolombiens de l’île Hispaniola, après avoir fait la cérémonie de la Cohoba, ils ont reçue une prophétie sur la destruction de son peuple. Plus tard en 1492, beaucoup d’eux ont connu le début de la fin. / En la cultura taína, indígenas precolombinos de la isla La Española, después de haber celebrado la ceremonia de la Cohoba, recibieron una profecía sobre la destrucción de su pueblo. Más tarde en 1495, muchos conocieron el principio de su final.
